Closing Yours Eyes Won’t Solve The Problem

31 May

I have learned over several years of pastoring that indeed, “hurting people, hurt other people.” People do what they do by the blindness of brokenness. It is out of this brokenness that the voices of yesterday scream in defense of why not to move forward.

Matthew 13:13-15 (King James Version)

13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

This passage of scripture has awakened new revelation in me in understanding human nature. In the original text (Greek), “waxed gross” is rendered broken heart. This is profound when understanding why one can become “dull of hearing.” Haven’t you been presented Truth before and because of the pain of the past you could not seize the moment of promotion?

Here is what Jesus recognized in Matthew 13:15, that the people became “dull of hearing” because of disappointment and unrealized dreams. When dreams are deferred and hopes are shattered, people will act out and reflect this brokenness in decisions, relationships and perspectives. But the heart that has become callous, unable to empathize and embrace change, will push some to “close their eyes.”

Why did those in Matthew 13:15 intentionally “close their eyes”? The fear of repeated unfulfilled dreams. But this is not the answer. Jesus says that we can be converted, changed and grow. When we see, hear and embrace the Truth of God’s Word we can look in this perfect image and see those things we can change and rearrange. We can see how the way of the world has twisted our perception and has dimmed our faith.

Open your eyes and embrace the change and prepare for breakthrough.

The Opportunity Called NOW

24 May

When you find, embrace and recognize the opportunity called NOW, you in essence find God. God is timeless and limitless. He is always in the NOW. Now is a point. Now is a dimension. Now is a plane where decisions are made that implicate future happenings.

When you believe in this moment of NOW you align and become in sync with destiny. Destiny is married to wisdom and it is crying out for you. Procrastanation is the silent thief of distraction that keeps your hands, heart and hearing tied prohibiting you from experiencing abundance.

There are answers that can prepare you for this moment of NOW. There are things you can do to recognize your NOW. There is a correct posture you MUST take to embrace the opportunity of NOW. Seize this moment and obey the signs of change. You are apart of history.

What You Say Will Come Your Way

16 May

Did you know that words are spiritual vehicles that determine your atmosphere? Jesus shares insight of this in John 6:63 when He says, “…his words are spirit and they are life.”  This is interesting to note that words are transferable and spiritual impacting our every day lives.

Scripture tells us that words are spirit, light and power (John 6:63, Proverbs 18:21, Psalms 119:105).  This is important to note and understand as we use words to communicate, interrelate and contract with others. These same words are also noted in science as energy– sound waves that travel. These words can tap all all realms affecting every aspect of our lives, spirit, soul and body. When we recognize that our words today are seeds of harvest tomorrow, we can begin to capitalize on this principle and shape a life of success.

In Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” This is one of my favorite passages because it speaks volumes to how we should shape our perspective concerning past, present and future things.  Notice this scripture says the world is in your heart. In other words, how you see the world is based on the condition of your heart. How true I have found this to be. What I thought was a problem with others was simple perspectives shaped by my experiences that determined how I imagined. Once, I gained truth from God’s word and healing, wholeness and peace, I was able to see more clearly the road of purpose.  But all of this takes time (“every thing is beautiful in his time…”). Yes, when we allow time to stretch us and unveil to us the mysteries within, we can begin to develop a language of success that will allow us to prosper.

One translation of Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, he has set eternity in their heart. You have access to this realm of the eternal. Life sends trouble to distract, confuse and deter you from this realm. You can win this struggle however, by taking your power back from those you have relinquished it. We relinquish our power to “Just Be” when we replace our power with excuse. These positions of excuse gives up our responsibility of change to the situations, circumstances or people we feel have robbed, raped or wrong us. When we see ourselves at this level of disadvantage, we don’t stand on the side of change; rather we lay on the side of compromise and acceptance. The acceptance is allowing the bar of success to be set by an event or moment rather than the gift of eternity within us.

When we learn how to tap into these principles, our words will line up with a better tomorrow we hope and believe will come.  When we learn how to properly use words we can begin to call in and attract a world that reflects God’s best.  What you say will come your way. Yes, you have what you say. What we say reflects the traffic in our heart and thinking. Let your heart see God’s best for you. Let your thoughts meditate on God’s will for you. You will find yourself employing words that will lift you to God’s best for you. Remember, what you say will come your way!

And You Will Find Favor

9 May

Have you ever found something of value?  Moreover, have you ever found something of value that you’d lost?  Isn’t that an awesome feeling?  Well, in Luke chapter 1, Mary, the mother of Jesus, received a message from an angel which stated she had found favor. When you read Luke 1:30, it is such an interesting scripture. The connotation is that it was unexpected! Mary wasn’t looking for it but she simply “found favor.”

What is favor? It is often said that what will take many days of labor, can be gained with simple favor!  Favor allows you to receive past the requirements of natural qualifications and abilities. There are only two requirements to receive favor. One is for you to JUST BE! When you are who God has made you– displaying your personality (personal abilities given by God), you set yourself up to find favor!

Favor puts you at the front of the line. Favor eliminates the walls of limitation. Favor gives promotion just because.  Favor is what God gives to every believer through His sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The bible calls it grace. Grace is unmerited favor, free favors, free gifts that cannot be bought.

Remember, I said there are two requirements to walk in favor. The second is for you to receive.  In Luke 1:30, Mary almost missed her moment attempting to rationalize why she could not receive that level of favor. What Mary did not realize is that favor sets you up for a miracle. Favor positions you to perform and walk in what you otherwise could not. This is the purpose of favor. It is not about you; rather it is your assignment.  The angel responded and said to Mary not to fear. Mary only needed to receive because God’s Spirit would come on her and perform the work!

Make this a part of your confession and affirmation today, that you have found favor! Get ready to find free favor today when you 1) JUST BE and 2) RECEIVE.

Finding Your Niche

4 May

Did you realize you have a specific path that has been divinely crafted for you? (Jer 29:11) Yes, there is a unique path that God has laid out for you. The mystery of life is to learn how to find out how to hear the voice of victory and identify the path of peace.  This can only be accomplished by understanding, soberly, WHO Truth is! Truth is not simply principles of wisdom, rather Truth is a person– Truth is Jesus Christ! (John 14:6). Once you settle this as the foundation for your decisions, you are ready to find your niche in life– your God-given place, purpose and position in life.

There are three ways to finding your niche. The first is to identify your passions! Not simply things you like, but look rather to those things that stir a fire in you!  What gets your adrenaline running and your emotions heightened?  Take note of what caused you to move into this state? What events happened to get you emotionally stirred? Emotions are God given to help point us to what we believe. As a side note, these same emotions can be indicators of things we may need to either change or enhance in our thinking to further our goals in life.  Negative emotions unveil our fears. Positive emotions unveil our wholeness. Learning to identify these in your life will set you on course for successful growth.

Jesus used passion to motivate and direct his actions throughout his ministry. Oftentimes, you will read where Jesus was “moved with compassion.” This compassion was his passion. The things that stirred him past his limitations unveiled His niche!

The second thing you must do is to identify your frustrations.   What things frustrate you?  Yes, your frustration can be an indication of your niche.  For example, if you are disturbed and perturbed when  seeing something out of order, perhaps administration will play a role in your niche.  Truly understanding why things frustrate you can help you identify what you have been called to change!  Take it to the next level and do not complain, rather help change the situation.

The last thing you can do is to take note of what strengths others pull from you. Yes, looking out the areas others glean from you can help you identify your strengths. You have to be careful with this one. Why?  It is human nature to keep taking as long as things are given out for free. You can easily become emotionally bankrupt if you don’t set limitations here. However, you can begin to take note of your relationships and common threads you identify can point towards your niche

Finding your niche is important to your prosperity. God wants you to prosper as your soul prospers. Prospering in your soul is becoming fully aware of who you are and what you are assigned to do. As this takes place, you will prosper. Prosperity is not just money, however, favor will follow your faith. Keep pressing through until you find your niche!
